Purr, Purr, Purr

My friend, Ryan, came to me with the idea that I needed to make a t-shirt with the lyrics from the "Soft Kitty" song from The Big Bang Theory. He had purchased a t-shirt (the only one he could find) and was disappointed in both the design and the quality of the shirt itself. The night he showed me the t-shirt, he described what the design SHOULD look like. Instead of a kitty, he thought it should be a ferocious tiger that has been tamed and appeared to be falling asleep. I shared the vision with him enthusiastically and went home that night to work on the idea. After the first design, it still wasn't right. I didn't feel it came across and Ryan expressed the same. It just didn't have the style we wanted. So it then evolved into what became THE shirt we ended up with...cute, sexy, and fun!

Desperate T-shirts!

There really have been a lot of t-shirts out there (especially in the gay community) for John Waters and his cavalcade of wild loveable characters. But while there have been many with Divine in that red tule dress from "Pink Flamingos" or with film logos and catch phrases, I had never seen any specifically focused on other characters. And fans remember these other delightfully insane characters from his movies. It was up to me to make it happen!

My aim was to capture the dark humor that we all love so much but (as with everything I do) I wanted it to be a simple design, eye-catching and keeping with that retro style. My first 2 designs for this series speak for themselves. More to follow...

I Run For Pancakes!

My friend, Kevin (who is an avid runner in marathons), came to me and said "You should make a t-shirt that says 'I Run For Pancakes'!" So I did!

Beginning tomorrow, one of my newest designs will be available for purchase on t-shirts (in various colors), hoodies and stickers at Red Bubble. Don't forget the syrup! 

Key In Ignition... START!

After more than 16 years of designing and making t-shirts by hand as a hobby, I have finally done what friends have been telling me to do for YEARS!!! It is truly a labor of love for me to evolve into a more professional stage of bringing my t-shirt designs to life. My design technique has grown from a stripped down and archaic method to a more advanced process opening up my work to more options than I had ever thought possible. I'm still learning with each and every design. So in this early stage of what I hope will be a long and fruitful venture (side venture to begin with), I'd like to share my journey through this blog...my VERY FIRST blog!
